This is a list of classes we offer regularly at The Black Cat Stitchery. Other specialty classes are scheduled each year. The best way to find out about our current list of classes is to sign up for our newsletter. If you don’t see a class scheduled that you would like to take just let us know!
Beginning Cross-Stitch – Learn the basics of cross-stitching as you complete a small project. Stitches covered include the full cross-stitch, half-stitch, quarter-stitch and backstitching. No experience necessary. $20 class fee includes instruction and materials. Class meets once for 2 hours.
Stitching on Linen – Learn the techniques needed to stitch on linen. Students must already know how to cross-stitch. $20 class fee includes instruction and materials. Class meets once for 2 hours.
Stitching Beaded Kits – Learn to stitch beaded kits on perforated paper. Class meets once for two and a half hours. $15 class fee, all kits $7.50 – many options!
Beginning Needlepoint - Satin Stitch – You will stitch Laura J. Perin’s Holiday Square piece in one of two colorways as you learn the basic satin stitch required in most needlepoint patterns. Class meets twice for three hours each. $25 class fee, materials approximately $33.00.
Beginning Needlepoint - Emma Louise Sampler - Master the use of the Basketweave and Continental Stitches, which are both essential to needlepoint work. Other stitches covered include Scotch Stitch, Knitting Stitch, Brick Stitch, Long Stitch, Oblique Gobelin and Reversed Scotch Stitch. Class meets three times for three hours each. $30 class fee, materials approximately $35.
Beginning Hardanger - No Cut – You will make a beautiful bookmark as you learn essential Hardanger stitches - kloster blocks, box stitch and four eyelet variations.Class meets twice for two hours each. $20 class fee, $11 kit.
Punch Needle - Learn the fast, fun and easy craft of punch needle! Class meets once for 2 hours. $20 class fee, materials approximately $50 (including punch).
Framing (Pinning) – Learn to frame a small stitched piece.You must have a 5 X 7 or smaller piece ready to frame (washed if applicable and pressed), and a frame selected and purchased two weeks prior to the class in order to participate. $25 class fee includes materials.
